Homeworld 3 is the highly anticipated next installment in the acclaimed sci-fi real-time strategy series. After many years since the last mainline entry, Homeworld 3 is set to launch in February 2024 and bring exciting new features and gameplay to the franchise.
Homeworld 3 System Requirements
Recommended Requirements:
- OS: Windows 10 (64-bit)
- Processor: Intel i7
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: 8 GB VRAM, GeForce RTX 2070 Super
- Storage: 20 GB available space
Minimum Requirements:
- OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit)
- Processor: Intel Core i3-2100 (3.1 GHz) / AMD A10 5800k (3.8 GHz)
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: GeForce GT 440 (1024 MB) / Radeon HD 4890 (1024 MB)
- Storage: 30 GB available space
The developers have said the game is being optimized to run well on a wide range of systems. But as a rough estimate, it will likely call for at least an Intel Core i5 processor, 8GB RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD equivalent graphics card, and a solid state drive. These specs may change as launch approaches.
Laptop Requirements
To run Homeworld 3 on a laptop, you’ll need one with a dedicated gaming-class GPU. Integrated graphics found on most regular consumer laptops will probably not be enough. A gaming laptop with at least an NVIDIA GTX 1650 or AMD RX 5500M GPU would be necessary to comfortably run the game.
It’s also recommended to play on a laptop with an SSD rather than HDD for faster load times. A Core i5 or equivalent processor and 8GB of RAM would be the minimum laptop specs. For best performance at high settings, an RTX 2060 or better GPU, Core i7 CPU, and 16GB RAM is ideal.
Release Date
Gearbox Software officially announced Homeworld 3 in 2019, but did not reveal a release date at the time. It was later confirmed during a developer livestream that Homeworld 3 is targeting February 2024 for its launch on PC. The game was delayed from its original expected release in 2022.
Gameplay
Homeworld 3 will carry on the same core RTS gameplay that the series is known for, with players controlling a fleet from a 3D perspective in space. Resources must be gathered to build new ships and grow your armada. The single-player campaign will be focused on a new story and races within the Homeworld universe.
One of the biggest additions to gameplay is a new asynchronous cooperative multiplayer mode called War Games. This will allow two players to compete against AI enemies together, but on their own time schedules. Players can take turns completing objectives and supporting each other’s fleets.
The game will also feature large-scale battles with massive capital ships and hundreds of units, thanks to technical advancements since previous titles. The graphics and visuals will be brought up to modern standards while keeping the iconic Homeworld art style
